I watch a leaf settle down

In a bed of brown.

  1. This haiku talks about death. The ''leaf '' represents a person and ''bed of brown'' represents soil. It says that when a person dies, its body will be buried in the ground in a grave or a tomb.

  2. As i read the poem "haiku", its talk about DEATH, the "leaf" there represents an old person, while "bed of brown" as soil. We all know that as we grow older we are prone to this particular events that we can't escape easier...so it signifies that when an old persons dies, it's body will be buried in the ground or in a tomb.

  5. falling to the ground- made a big mistake
    leaf- person
    bed of brown- great responsibility

For me,the haiku implied that a person made a big mistake and then he/she settle down into a great responsibility.

  6. This poetry refers to a person who died.
A leaf settle down, means the body of a died person put on the coffin-the case in which the corpse is buried.
The truth;death comes like a thief in the night that comes when least expected.

  8. falling to the ground - refers to unexpected event or situation, failures
leaf - represents "life of a person"
settle down - right or proper time
bed of brown - refers to a place or world

this haiku means that, in our life we may fail due to carelessness of a person but in every situation we will learn from it in a proper time.
if we don't lose hope while we live in this world... we have to take courage and if we fail don't give up just learn from it and most of all we will try again, again and again... thank you.God bless us all...

  10. Good day to everyone!!! :)

This haiku example talks about death, illustrating burial ceremony, if how does it go. This sounds jargon in the first place for the reasons that the writer use idioms or shall we say idiomatic expression of feelings, where meanings are simply hidden. The purpose of which is that maybe to give more sympathy or even to refresh the emotional feelings of the listener. Let me share a short story I have read about this poem, were during the ceremony a Eulogy was given with his close friend, which part of his Eulogy was to read the poem in front of her close friend which he love the most. Before her friend died she asked him to read his favorite poem when she dies. He thought that her friend is just telling joke, but the week after next his close friend died.

Death is a normal part of human life. Certainly, it can appear unexpectedly and bring grief or fear, but it can also be peaceful and happy. I hope that in these death quotes you find enlightenment and peace.

Well, if I were to explain literary this haiku poem that says “Falling to the ground, I watch a leaf settle down in a bed of brown.” First line was that falling to the ground where in other words someone feel tired, hopeless, weak, unconscious or one is carrying heavy load that need rest, or even empty that cant able to pursue. The Second line that says “I watch a leaf settle down”, this means that to relax, to calm down, or moving down peacefully. And finally the last thought says “In a bed of brown”, which represent the symbol of nature which is the ground which can make his/her rest or break. Those are the thoughts that will define the haiku poems, which means that when a person dies, his/her body or remains in the coffin will be gradually buried or moving down peacefully, 6ft below the ground.

Thank you so much for reading my thoughts, have a great day ahead!!!

  11. "Falling to the ground" shows a feeling or expresses despair, lost hope.
Leaf- a person or the subject
In a bed of brown- refers to a soil
"HAIKU" is one of the most important from of traditional Japanese poetry. a word Haiku, absolutely talks about death. As we live in this world there should be an ending which is the so-called "death" no one is exempted in the sense of death because we only borrowed our lives to our creator the GOD.In this world everything are just temporary, so all we have to do is live life to the fullest with the hands of God.

  12. So leaf is a person; bed of brown is the soil and “I” is a man. There is man who is watching a burial ceremony and he saw a dead person who will buried in the bottommost of the soil.

  13. The Bible says there is a time for everything. This Haiku talks about the time when a person bids goodbye to this world, the time of death.

The leaf here represents us. While we are still living, we stand differently in the society just like the leaves, they are found everywhere in the tree. There are leaves found higher than the others and there are some that are below. However, when these leaves dry up, they all end up with same color and same place - ground.
When we die, we all end up to the same destination and that's also the ground. This emphasizes that all people, though we differ in our race, culture, attitudes, beliefs and other, we would all end up the same, equal, lifeless.

  14. Falling to the ground,
I watch a leaf settle down
    In a bed of brown.

For me, just others interpret it.,
Falling to the ground means a man who got sick.
Watch a leaf settle down means the man is ready to accept his coming death.
Bed of brown means the man was peacefully lie down to be buried.

This haiku trying to said that all of us must be ready for our upcoming death just as the man in the story.

  16. I agree with some of the comments here that says "in everything there is a season". This haiku means that every thing has an end. It maybe a life of a person or even work or career. This is the leaf. Someone is watching but couldn't help, every thing will come to its end. The bed means the resting place when someone or something ends.^^
